About Echo
Echo is dictation for people who type all day and would rather talk.
Who builds it
Echo is made by a software company registered in India — the registered name and address are in the Impressum. We say that plainly because you deserve to know who processes your voice, and because you would find out anyway the moment you ran the installer.
We build for a European market from India. That is not a contradiction. GDPR compliance, EU data rights and German-language support are things you do, not things you are born with.
Why it works the way it does
Most dictation tools are built for people who speak one language at a time. Real speech is not like that — a Hindi sentence with three English nouns in it is not an edge case, it is Tuesday. Echo was built by people who talk that way.
We charge per person per month because the work behind a dictation — the transcription, the servers, the model — costs us every month too. A one-time price would mean either a worse product later or a company that quietly stops maintaining it.
There is no analytics, no crash reporting and no telemetry. Not as a setting you can switch off, but as code that was never written. That means we cannot tell you how many people use Echo, and we are fine with that trade.
What we will not claim
Echo transcribes in the cloud. Your audio leaves your machine, goes to our server, and is transcribed by Groq. Any tool this fast is doing the same thing; we would rather say it than let you assume otherwise.
